The TCSOL/TESOL 2016 Summer Dual Program in Beijing is a collaborative certificate program co-organized by Columbia University's Teachers College, Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, and Weatherhead East Asian Institute, co-sponsored by The Division of Chinese International Education at Beijing Language and Culture University and Columbia Global Centers | East Asia in Bejing. This dual certificate provides intensive training in the teaching of both Chinese and English. Participants, however, have the options of obtaining a single certificate either in TCSOL or TESOL, or both.

The TCSOL/TESOL Summer Dual Program especially encourages applicants who are MA students/graduates in Chinese linguistics, English, Bilingual or Multilingual Education College seniors in Chinese linguistics, English, Bilingual or Multilingual Education Teachers of Chinese or English looking to enhance their teaching expertise Professionals considering a career change Individuals seeking to acquire a new skill.

Students who successfully complete the TCSOL/TESOL Summer Dual Program will receive a certificate jointly issued by Teachers College, Columbia University and Beijing Language and Culture University to acknowledge their participation and achievement in the program. Attending the TCSOL/TESOL Summer Dual Program will also give a significant advantage for applicants who decide to continue on to the TCSOL Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. With the foundation that the summer program provides, students will be better equipped for the rigorous program at Teachers College. Application priority will be given to students who demonstrate their ability during the summer program. Additionally, applicants who successfully complete the summer program will be eligible for a reduction of the tuition fee for the one-year courses should they be admitted to the TCSOL Program at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Final: $100 (March 16, 2016 to June 30, 2016)

The tuition fee varies depending on the type of summer certificate you hope to receive:
TCSOL only: $1,250
TESOL only: $1,250
Dual: $2,500
In order to ensure your place in the program, the full tuition fee must be paid within two weeks of the date you were accepted.
