Program Overview
This symposium will discuss the tension between media- and technology-rich classroom environments and building on emergent language in a "natural" environment.
This discussion is especially appropriate in the Egyptian context, where many teachers operate in environments with few resources, large classes, and competing demands of students (jobs, families, etc.). It is also relevant in the broader debate about whether an approach focusing on emergent language with few classroom materials can work in a context like Egypt, where students might have more specific needs and expectations.
Who Should Attend?
ELT professionals who
• want to know more about getting unplugged from classroom technology
• want to know more about getting plugged in to classroom technology
• understand the tech-boom and want to be involved
