Vocab@Vic Conference
2013/05/14
WHEN: Wednesday 18 December – Friday 20 December, 2013
WHERE: Rutherford House, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
Come on over to Wellington, Aotearoa/New Zealand for the first ever Vocab@Vic conference.
Thirty percent of the research on vocabulary that has appeared in the last 100 years has appeared in the last ten years. Vocabulary studies are clearly alive and well. We have seen remarkable progress in research in areas such as multiword units, computer-assisted vocabulary learning, vocabulary learning activities and vocabulary testing. Our Vocab@Vic conference aims at keeping participants up-to-date on current research and practice in vocabulary teaching and learning.
The conference theme is deliberately broad: Current trends in vocabulary studies. We see this theme as a chance to frame vocabulary studies in today’s world, to consider where we are now and to think about where we are going.
It is fitting that we host Vocab@Vic in Wellington, New Zealand, the capital city and home to a fair few vocabulary enthusiasts. We thought you might like to visit in summer and perhaps even stay on in the country for Christmas. Or come early and turn it into a holiday. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. We can’t wait to talk the hind legs off a donkey with you about vocabulary.
We invite you to join us in Wellington for Vocab@Vic. See you soon.
Paul Nation and AverilCoxhead on behalf of the Vocab@Vic 2013 Organising Committee
