传说中的腊八
LEGEND
腊八节在农历12月初八，“腊”代表一年中农历最后一个月，含义有三：一曰“接也”，新旧交替；二曰“同猎”，用肉“冬祭”；三曰“逐疫迎春”，攘除灾祸、迎接新春。人们在腊八这天团聚祈福、祭祀先祖，热热闹闹地拉开了庆祝新春佳节的序幕。
Laba is celebrated on the eighth day of the last lunar month, referring to the traditional start of celebrations for the Chinese New Year. "La" in Chinese means the 12th lunar month, and "ba" means eight. The right day of that month was considered a day for making sacrifices to gods and ancestors to ensure a peaceful life and a good harvest in the next year.
民间流传着很多关于腊八节起源的传说，如释迦牟尼开悟成佛、明太祖朱元璋挖豆煮粥、“赤豆打鬼，祛疫迎祥”、岳家军与“千家粥”等，妙趣横生、真假难辨，但无一不传达着人们祈求丰收、祈福新年的美好夙愿。

舌尖上的腊八

腊八节这天，最重要的传统就是喝腊八粥了。腊八粥通常由八种材料做成，这些材料可以是糯米（glutinous rice）、红豆（red bean）、小米（millet）、高粱（Chinese sorghum）、豌豆（pea）、莲子（dried lotus seed）、红枣（dried date）、栗子（chestnut meat）、核桃仁（walnut meat）、杏仁（almond）、花生（peanut）等谷物，因个人喜好而选择不同。
除了浓香扑鼻的腊八粥，各地因地理风貌与文化习俗不同，腊八美食也五花八门：华北地区常在这天腌制酸辣可口的腊八蒜（Laba Garlic），陕西关中地区每逢腊八都要吃热气腾腾、四溢飘香的腊八面（Laba Noodles），安徽黄山则爱咸香回甘的腊八豆腐（Laba Tofu）……真是令人望而生津、垂涎欲滴~
