Marta Antón & #40;Ph.D. University of Massachusetts at Amherst& #41; is Professor Emerita of Spanish in the School of Liberal Arts at Indiana University- Indianapolis. Antón has served as associate dean for academic programs, chair of the Department of World Languages and Cultures, and director of the Program in Spanish. She also held appointments as associate director of the Spanish Resource Center in Indianapolis, research fellow at the Indiana Center for Intercultural Communication, president of the Indiana Chapter of the America Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, and examiner for the international language proficiency test, Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera & #40;DELE& #41;. She has conducted research on sociocultural approaches to classroom interaction and dynamic assessment, on health discourse, and Spanish sociolinguistics, particularly in the area of language contact. Publications include a book on language assessment & #40;Arco Libros, 2013& #41;, a co-authored book on health discourse & #40;John Benjamins, 2015& #41;, book chapters and articles in academic journals on sociocultural theory and on assessment including The Routledge Handbook of Sociocultural Theory and Second Language Development & #40;2018& #41;, The Routledge Handbook of Spanish Language Teaching & #40;2018, 2022& #41;, The Handbook of Classroom Discourse and Interaction & #40;Wiley-Blackwell, 2015& #41;, The Routledge Handbook of Hispanic Applied Linguistics & #40;2014& #41;, The Routledge Handbook of Language Testing & #40;2012& #41;, etc. Since 2018, she is editor-in-chief of The Modern Language Journal & #40;Wiley& #41;.
