Joo-Kyung Park
Dr. Joo-Kyung Park is Professor in the Dept. of English Language and Literature, Honam University & #40;HU& #41; in S. Korea. She earned her MA in Linguistics from Seoul National University, S. Korea and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University, USA, specializing in ESL/EFL/Bilingual Education. She has developed and taught numerous courses and programs for young learners, undergraduate and graduate students, teachers, and community members to help them acquire English proficiency and intercultural understanding. They include 1997-present Korean elementary and secondary English Teachers’ In-service Program, 2004 Korea-Japan English Camp program, 2015 HU-Taichung National University of Education Cultural Exchange Program, 2017 HU-Singapore National University Cultural Exchange Program, to name a few. She has given plenary and featured talks at many ELT and Applied Linguistics conferences, workshops and symposia held inside and outside of Korea. She has also served as President of KOTESOL & #40;1996-1997& #41; and President of the Applied Linguistics Association of Korea & #40;ALAK& #41; & #40;2015-2016& #41; and 2011 AsiaTEFL International Conference Chair. She has published numerous research papers and book chapters in the areas of teacher education, speech/pronunciation, intercultural communication, English as a lingua franca, and English-medium instruction. Her most recent interest is in developing ESP courses.
